"In any difference of opinion, pants always wins out over no pants"
-Jerry Seinfeld, on why the doctor makes you wear the open blue gown
While the girls do very well with their potties at home (naked from the waist down), we've learned that any form of coverage equates to a diaper for them. For this reason, we continue to take the pantless approach at home.
I learned this the hard way when Marie was in panties and had a #2 accident. I artfully negotiated the after-effects into the potty, leading to an argument that I didn't expect. After washing her hands, she requested her two M&Ms, and got a horribly stricken look on her face, when I told her that she didn't get them after an accident. "But daddy, it dropped right in the potty!" Etta then took up the argument on her behalf. "Yeah daddy, it dropped right in the potty!"
She still didn't get the M&Ms, but the early foreshadowing of twin girls teaming up against their father was not lost on me.
