I Don't Like Mondays

It's not just an uncomfortable '80s song performed by a British rocker turned AIDS activist, it's also a mantra that almost all of us live by. Three weeks into preschool, the girls were not happy about being dragged out of bed on Monday morning. I tried explaining to them that Mondays are always painful after a fun (or exhausting) weekend, but we still have to get out of bed.

This change in the girls' routine brought me to an almost depressing reality. They are only three weeks into a dislike of Mondays, a feeling that will last for about 62 more years (if anyone actually gets to retire at 65 by then). On the other hand, the 8 to 5, 40 hour work week is an increasingly antiquated creation of the Industrial Revolution. As the workforce becomes virtual and hours more flexible, it could be that Monday mornings will someday lose their status as most dreaded time of the week.

Until that happens..... 3 Mondays down, 3,221 to go. Sorry ladies.
